Celebrating moment for the FlexH2 project!
From the FlexH2 Project (2022-2026), we are celebrating our first project PhD graduate from TU Delft Last Week. Dr Zhengzhao Li focuses on the application of solid-state transformers for large-scale H2 electrolysis. Originally, a solid-state transformer was applied in the locomotive industry for trains and was a much more compact solution in the train system. In more recent years, we see a strong interest in solid-state transformers for EV charging, hydrogen and data centre applications, delivering a compact solution with higher efficiency whilst lowering copper usage in most cases.
Whilst the topic of his PhD is the application of SST to hydrogen, the thesis also provides a useful overview of concurrent topologies widely used in data centre applications, for example.
